Learning>Changing>Improving: Implementing Professional Learning with Fidelity

“Training without follow up is malpractice.” If the goals for professional learning are changes in educator practice and increases in student learning, attention must be given to support for implementation. Learning Forward Mississippi’s Fall Learning Retreat will focus on successful implementation of initiatives/innovations according to research and best practices supported by the development of the implementation standard. Participants will gain a conceptual framework for understanding implementation and determining our role(s) in it. The Day 1 session will guide participants in understanding and using “change management” tools that support fidelity of implementation as well as maintaining momentum through the challenges of the process. Day 2 will provide participants with an opportunity to hear from Mississippi educators about implementations underway in their schools/districts, their successes, and the issues encountered along the way.

Learning produces change and change yields improvement. Bring a current initiative from your school/district that cannot afford to fail and work through the development of an implementation plan.
